It is common to see Dandy twist pieces being sold into the informal market via tuck shops and on the streets by local vendors. Interestingly single pieces of twist bubble gum is often used as a source of change at till points through-out the retail and tuck shops around Zimbabwe.

In the 80’s and early nineties the full Stimorol and Dirol range of chewing gum was manufactured under licence at the Dandy factory.

More recently a large range of Beechies sugar sweetened and sugar free chewing gums are manufactured in Norton for the Regional Markets around Zimbabwe. South Africa being the largest market.

The Dandy coated ball gum has always been a popular range and more latterly the Company has introduced a bubble gum roll which has proved to be popular.

Dandy produce a sugar sweetened and sugar free chewing gum range and the product is marketed in the formal retail trade. These products are packaged in a stack format for the sugar sweetened range and a blister format for the sugar free range of gum.

A combination of well-trained Zimbabwean staff, modern manufacturing equipment, reliable supplies of raw materials, high standards of local packaging and the on-going implementation of new technological developments ensures a high quality range of products equal in all respects to international standards.

The team at Dandy led by Peter Mogensen, son of the founder, are able to meet the current and future needs of its customers, in both the local and export markets and we welcome enquiries for the production of unique private label packaged gums.

The success of Dandy was built on manufacturing a range of bubble gums and nearly 40 years later the often used generic name for bubble gum in this country is “DANDY”. Our famous twist wrapped gum include flavours like strawberry (locally referred to as Bobby), tutti frutti (Funny) and Banana.

The bubble gum brand “Dandy” originated in Denmark when Jorgen Mogensen, a Danish Immigrant, approached the then managing director of Dandy Denmark - Mr Holger Bagger Sorensen - with a view to creating a joint venture in Zimbabwe.

Dandy Zimbabwe was the first major Private Investment initiative after Zimbabwe’s Independence in 1980. The factory was built and equipped to Danish standards at Norton, some 40 kilometres from Harare, production commenced in 1982 and high quality bubble gum and chewing gum is still manufactured at the original site.
